What's Happening In The Community

Christmas can be a difficult time for many, including our children, young people and families. There is lots of support available locally and nationally. Please encourage people to reach out if they are feeling alone, overwhelmed, scared or hopeless over the Christmas and New Year period.

The Household Support Scheme went live on 1st December and will provide support to residents to keep warm and fed over the winter period. The Council is working with a number of partners to deliver this scheme and full information, including eligibility criteria, can be found via this link

https://blackburn.gov.uk/WinterHSS

Help is available for fuel bills, food, white goods and other essentials to keep warm, clean and safe. As per the last two grants we are taking a strengths based approach and the Help Hub team are supporting onward referrals to other support where needed such benefit and debt advice.

Residents self-refer using the form in the link above wherever possible.
