Polar Bears

Welcome to Polar Bears!

Education is the most powerful thing which you can use to change the world.” - Nelson Mandela

Pick up and Drop off

Drop off

Children should be dropped off at either gate on Lynwood Avenue or St Alban's at 8:50am and enter school through the closest entrance (unless they travel on transport). Children should be in class no later than 9am. Anyone arriving after 9am will need to sign in at the school office.

Collection

All children should be collected from the playground (unless your child is being collected by the transport). Your child will be allowed to leave the Polar Bears classroom once a known adult has been seen by the member of staff dismissing the children. Collection is now 3:30.

Reading

Reading at home plays an important part in developing the skills of a young reader and we encourage you to help in the progression of your child's reading skills by hearing them read at home daily if possible, but if not at least three times a week.

When you have listened to your child read, if you could record it in the reading record book, along with any comments on how they read, this will help us when changing reading books. Reading books should be brought into school daily in a school book bag or school back pack.

P.E.

P.E will be taught by Mr Ellison. Children should come to school on these days wearing their full P.E kit with their school jumper/cardigan over the top or the new school quarter zip P.E top. Children can wear black/dark coloured joggers over the top of their shorts if the weather is cooler. Hoodies are not permitted.

Uniform

Just a reminder at the start of the school year, that all items of uniform must be labelled with your child's full name in order to avoid misplaced items.  Children do, at times, need to take their jumpers off in class, and clothing can quickly become lost or mixed up if it isn't labelled.  Without named items of clothing it becomes really difficult to match missing items to their owners.

Please be aware that jewellery isn't allowed in school.  We advise that ear piercing is saved for the summer holidays so that they can heal before the start of the new school year.

Class Dojo

Across school, we use Class Dojo to communicate information from class but also the wider school. Please continue to check Dojo regularly as their may be some important information relevant to you. Throughout the year, we will update our class page with what has been going in class along with any badge/certificate winners.

Please note that Dojo messages will only be received during the hours of 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday, so please don't worry if you don't receive an immediate response.

Curriculum

We are currently working closely with the team from Crosshill to further develop our curriculum. This is in the final stages, we look forward to sharing our long-term plans with you soon.
