Welcome to Year 4/5 G
I hope you have all had a wonderful summer and are ready to start the new school year.
I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all a lot better at the meet the teacher event. If you can not make this event then please say hello on the playground.
Reading at home plays an important part in developing the skills of a young reader and we encourage you to help in the progression of your child's reading skills by hearing them read at home daily if possible, but if not at least three times a week. Children can change their book on any day of the week as long as they put their book in the reading basket. We will collect reading records in every Thursday to tally up our collective class reading score.
When you have listened to your child read, if you could record it in their reading diaries, along with any comments on how they read, this will help us when changing reading books. Reading books should be brought into school daily in a school book bag. Other bags are not allowed in school, as we haven't space to keep them.
Homework will be given on a Thursday and should be handed in by the following Wednesday.
Children will also be given spellings and timetables to practise at home. When given on a Thursday, they will be tested the following Friday.
PE is on a Wednesday afternoon. Our second PE session will be spent in our outdoor area, taking part in a Forest School session. Please ensure the correct uniform is in school for PE and warm, comfortable clothing is brought on a Thursday ready for Forest School.
What we have been up to this term...
Urgent messages need to be sent either via the school office or class dojo. Other messages can be sent via this platform and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
