Happy New Year Year 4!
We hope you have had a fantastic Christmas and are looking forward to an exciting term.
Volcanoes and Earthquakes
Our Spring term topic is Volcanoes and Earthquakes. Throughout the term we will be looking at how angry our planet can be. We will start by exploring the layers of our Earth then will focus on volcanoes and earthquakes. We will be discovering what and where they are, how they are created and famous examples in history, such as Pompeii. Take a look at the Year 4 Autumn Term topic overview at the bottom of this page for information on this terms topics.
In Year 4 we have P.E on Tuesdays and Fridays. Could I please ask that children have their full, clearly labelled P.E kit in school on these days.
Reading is very important and children are expected to read regularly in Year 4. Reading books will be changed daily as long as reading records have been signed to say that your child has read. Children should bring their reading book to school everyday even if they have not read the previous night. Points will also be collected for our whole school reading challenge in which a class has the chance to win a big mystery prize at the end of the half term.
Spellings will be given out on Fridays and they should be practised and learnt for a spelling test the following Friday. The spelling sheet does not need to be returned to school.
Homework will be given out every Friday and will be collected in by the following Wednesday at the latest. This will usually consist of a Maths or English activity. Towards the end of each term a homework grid will be set which will include lots of different activities such as research, writing and art based tasks linked to the topic we have covered that term.
