Check out ClassDojo to see what amazing things we have been up to in Year 2.
In Year 2 learning is both challenging and fun and a place where we visit many exciting topics throughout the course of the year. Some topics we will cover this year include Dinosaurs, Festivals, The Great Fire, Africa, The Seaside and World Cup 2018.
Our topics for the Spring Term are 'The Great Fire of London' and 'Africa - Kenya'. We will spend the first half of the term with more of a history focus. We will look at how the fire started and where. We will also look at where London is and see where we are in relation to it.
During Spring 2, we will be looking at the continent of Africa and then focusing on Kenya. We will compare our lives with those of people living in Kenya.
We have PE in Year 2 on Wednesday and Friday and as such I am asking that all children keep a PE kit in school for these sessions with each item of clothing labelled with a name. Swimming will continue until your child can swim 20m. Keep an eye out for a timetable. Thank you for your support with this each week and making sure your child has the correct swimming and PE kit.
Reading books are changed daily as long as the reading record has been signed to say that your child has read. Points will also be collected for our whole school reading challenge in which a class has the chance to win a big mystery prize at the end of the half term.
Spellings and Times Table Homework is given out every Friday and children have until the following Thursday to complete and return it. This spelling sheet does not need to be returned to school and should be kept at home to practice. There may be times during the year where small writing tasks or project style activities are sent home instead of times tables.
In Year 2, I have an open door policy and should you have any queries or concerns please feel free to pop in at the end of the day, catch me on the yard, send me a message below or ring to arrange an appointment at a convenient time.
Thank you in advance for all of your support.
