World Book Day 2015 was held on Thursday 6th March. We decided that we wanted to make this day really special for the children so planned lots of exciting things to happen during the day.
To start off the children were invited to come to school wearing their pyjamas and to also bring their favourite bedtime story. Bedtime is a great time to share a story as it is a time of quiet and calm and the children can really take a break from everything and get involved with a good story.
The children all came to school looking great and enjoyed sharing their stories throughout the day.
During the afternoon we organised for classes to swap around so that older children could get the chance to work with the younger children. Activities were planned and stories were shared as children got the opportunity to read to each other.
After the children had the opportunity to work together we organised for class teachers to move to a different class to share their stories with a different group of children. This was enjoyed by all and the children really listened and participated well.
Also on World Book Day 12 children were chosen to represent our school at 'The Greatest Book Show On Earth'. This meant that we went along to Preston North End football club to see 6 famous authors talk about their experiences and how they came about writing stories. We were at the show along with 5000 other children from lots of other schools.
