Summer Term Worship Themes 2014-2015

WORSHIP 2014-2015

Our summer term worship theme is: 

Values – School values and values Jesus displayed

This term we will be journeying through the life of Jesus looking at what he did, what he said but more than that, what he valued.  Each theme explores values for our own lives which Jesus himself modelled through his own.

Monday 13th April

Value: Love

"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends." John 15:13

  • To know that Jesus’ love is for all
  • To think about what it means to be loving to those around us
  • To explore the characteristics of love

Monday 20th April

Value: Caring (or Compassion)

"The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love." Psalm 145:8

  • To know that God cares for each and every one of us
  • To understand how to be compassionate
  • To think about examples in history where people have shown compassion

Monday 27th April

Value: Forgiveness

"Be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving one another as God in Christ forgave you." Ephesians 4:32

  • To understand Christian beliefs about forgiveness
  • To know that Jesus freely offers forgiveness to those who ask

Tuesday 5th May

Value: Thankfulness and Respect

"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" 1 Thessalonians 5:18

  • To consider what we are truly thankful for
  • To give thanks in every situation as Jesus and his followers encouraged us to do
  • To always remember to say “Thank you” – show respect for ourselves and others

Monday 11th May

Value: Courage – Being able (school value)

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for The Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9

  • To recognise that there are courageous people in the world
  • To choose to be courageous by always standing up for what is right

Monday 18th May

Value: Truthfulness – Being Aware (School Value)

"We saw his glory, the glory of the one and only, full of Grace and truth who came from the Father"
John 1:14

  • To always tell the truth
  • To understand that honesty is always the best policy!
  • To explore what it means to live by God’s grace

HALF TERM 25TH TO 29TH May 2015

Monday 1st June

Value: Justice & Faith

"Act justly, love mercy, walk humbly with your God"
Micah 6:8

  • To think about courageous people who stand up for justice
  • To know that we have a part to play to ensure that the world is a fair place
  • To follow Jesus’ example in speaking for those who have no voice

Monday 8th June

Value: Perseverance & Trust

"Let your hope make you glad. Be patient in times of trouble and never stop praying" Romans 12:12 

  • To know that God is always with us
  • To learn about how people have overcome challenges by persevering

Monday 15th June

Value: Peace

"Now may The Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way." 2 Thessalonians 3:16

  • To know that God’s plan is for peace
  • To understand that we can all be peacemakers

Monday 22nd June

Value: Wisdom

"He who walks with the wise grows wise." Proverbs 13:20

  • To understand the difference between being wise and foolish
  • To listen to wise people in your life
  • To know that Jesus spoke wise words

Monday 29th June

Value: Friendship

  • To think about what it means to be a good friend
  • To identify and be thankful for good friends in our lives
  • To explore friendships in the Bible

Monday 6th July 2015

Value: Joy - Joy is a school value

"O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.” Psalm 95

  • To explore the meaning of joy.
  • To think about Joy in the natural world
  • To know joy is tough, not fragile.

Monday 13th July

Value: Hope and Independence

"The Lord is my strength and my shield my heart trusts in him and I am helped" Psalm 28:7

  • To celebrate the hopes and dreams that we have
  • To know that we always have hope
  • To understand that God knows us and watches over us
